Sinn Féin calls on Labour and Fine Gael to urgently pledge their support to the A5 dual arriageway

Donegal Sinn Féin Councillor, Pádraig Mac Lochlainn has called on both Fine Gael and the Labour Party to urgently pledge their support to the A5 Donegal to Dublin dual carriage way. He made the call following remarks from their senior party spokepersons, Fine Gael’s Deputy Leo Varadkar and Labour’s Deputy Joe Costello, both questioning the Government’s investment into the crucial project for the North West.

The Donegal Deputy Mayor also called on Irish government Transport Minister Noel Dempsey to immediately make concrete assurances that the agreement his government entered into as part of the St Andrew’s Agreement to contribute £400 million towards the cost of the A5 dual carriageway between Derry and Aughnacloy not only still stands but will be binding upon any new government elected following the General Election which is pending.
